This is the questions a lot of people are asking — not just visitors, either. Plenty of locals in Vancouver are stymied in their efforts to decipher just what the protesters want; or more precisely, what it would take to satisfy them, barring a wholesale transfer of Canadian territory to First Nations groups and a handover of the Bank of Canada’s reserves to poverty groups.

Here’s a video of the anti-Olympics protest on the first day of the Games and some conversations with individual protesters about why they showed up that day.

The athletes receive as many as 28 pieces of clothing for wear during the games, including socks.
